WHEN CHECKING OUT MATERIAL

Library cards are not transferable; patrons must use their own cards to borrow materials.  The replacement fee for lost library cards is $2.00 (two dollars).

The maximum overdue fine charged per item is $5.00 (five dollars).  Fines on overdue materials accrue daily until the item is returned.  Fines do not appear on a patron's account until the item is checked in.  Borrowing privileges are suspended when outstanding charges reach $20.00 (twenty dollars) or more on an account.

The maximum overdue fine charged per patron – for all accumulated overdue items on the borrower’s library account at one time -- is $10.00 (ten dollars).   

NOTE:  Replacement fees will be charged for lost or damaged items IN ADDITION to any accumulated fines.

New Adult Fiction and Non-Fiction Books
Loan Period:      two (2) weeks
Renewals:         unlimited renewals* if there are no Reserves
Limit:               Five (5) fiction and non-fiction books per library card (in any combination)
Fine:                 $0.10 (ten cents) per day, per item.
Maximum Fine:  $5.00 (five dollars) per item.
Reserves:          Yes

Video Materials (VHS and DVD)
Loan Period:      two (2) weeks
Renewals:         unlimited renewals* if there are no Reserves
Limit:               None
Fine:                 $1.00 (one dollar) per day, per item.
Maximum Fine:  $5.00 (five dollars) per item. 
Reserves:          Yes

Interlibrary Loans
Loan Period:      determined by the lending library
Renewals:         only if approved by the lending library
Limit:               None
Fine:                 $1.00 (one dollar) per day, per item.
Maximum Fine:  $5.00 (five dollars) per item.

Museum Passes (return & fines apply only to Canterbury Shaker Village)
Loan Period:      the day of pre-arranged reservation; due back day after reservation
Renewals:         No
Limit:               None
Fine:                 $5.00 (five dollars) per day.
Maximum Fine:  $10.00 (ten dollars). 
Reserves:          Yes, up to two weeks in advance of reservation date.

All other library materials (Adult and Children’s Books, Audiobooks, Magazines, etc.)
