Christine Kamal In January 2007, the Library mounted its first art exhibition with a display of Pelham artist Christine Kamal’s pencil portraits. Christine discovered her love of drawing as a child. While attending Dracut High School,
she placed second in a
nationwide contest and received a scholarship to the Rhode Island School of Design.
But, she decided that nursing offered a
more secure future, so she attended UMass Lowell. However, Chris' artistic
talent did not go unnoticed there. She was commissioned to draw the Indian
Chief mascot on the wall of the girl’s softball dugout. This
work led to other commissions.
Christine Kamal lives in Pelham with her husband and their three sons. She is an active member of the Pelham Gardeners’ Group and enjoys creating gardens in her yard. She is also continuing to pursue her love of drawing and is willing to take on commissions for pencil portraits.
